Medicare

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for all Social Security recipients that are either 65 years of age and older or who are permanently disabled. In addition to these, any individuals who are receiving railroad retirement benefits or living with end stage renal disease are eligible to receive Medicare benefits.

It is important to note that Medicare is not a welfare program and should not be confused with Medicaid. Medicare is a national program and should be similar from state to state. Income and assets are also not a consideration when determining if an individual is eligible for benefits.

Medicare is made up of 4 parts. These parts are Medicare Part A, Part B, Part C (Also known as Medicare Advantage), and Part D. We will talk about the difference between all of these parts below.

If you do have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to me directly via phone or email or feel free to fill out the form and I will get back to you.

This particular insurance is solely intended for low-income families which include both adult and children. It also is intended to cover pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

It is important to note that this plan typically covers hospital and doctor care, doctor visits, pregnancy care, shots for children, tests and x-rays, home health services, and nursing facility services for adults.

Medigap

Medigap is a supplemental insurance for Medicare. It will help fill any gaps of coverage within your original Medicare plan.

While Medicare does typically pay quite a few medical costs, it does not always cover all costs for the services received. Which is when this insurance comes in to play.

This particular insurance is to help you pay for any gaps that may not be covered by the Medicare plan. This could be things such as Copays, Coinsurances, Deductibles, and health care received outside the United states.

One very important thing to note about this particular plan, is that you are required to have Medicare Parts A & B to be eligible. It is also important to note that this Plan only covers one person at a time, so you would need an individual plan for each person that needs coverage.

Marketplace

The Marketplace is where families can go to compare and purchase desired health care plans. Small business owners can also purchase plans for their employees.

This is a great area for individuals to visit if they are uninsured or underinsured, which includes anyone who does not have insurance with an employer or their spouses employer.

One important thing to note about this particular plan is that every plan available within this area covers close to the same essential health benefits, such as: Hospitalization, preventive care, doctor visits, prescriptions and more.

Another very important thing to note with this plan, is that if you currently have a Medicare plan, then you do not need to purchase a Marketplace plan for any reason. It is actually against the law for anyone who knows you currently have a Medicare plan to sell you a Marketplace plan.
